Patriarchy and Covenantal Authority - Thoughts Toward a Discussion

Pastor Harlow and I had a discussion about the term "patriarchy." Here are some thoughts:

• "patriarchy" is not a Biblical term by our recollection
• patriarchy may be understood to reflect Biblical ideas: Eph. 5 and 6, 5th commandment
• patriarchy may be understood to reflect unbiblical ideas: Mormon type "chain of being"
• a better term in general is "covenantal authority" since it includes the biblical principals which we are teaching from Deuteronomy, Ray Sutton's book That You May Prosper, and the Leithart study.
